A clear-headed euphoric feeling washes over smokers from the first toke of a joint and does not relent for hours. Well known for its uplifting effects, L.A. Confidential x Afghan Kush Fem strain also delivers a sense of increased productivity and creativity making it ideal for enhancing everything from household chores to hiking in the mountains. In larger doses, the strain can trigger a need for deep sleep even the most experienced consumer of cannabis can’t deny.
Afghan Kush hails from high up in the Hindu Kush mountains with some of the most extreme weather variations on the planet and has graced the strain with strong genetics and a hardy tolerance to unexpected shifts in weather conditions. L.A. Confidential prefers a stable, warm environment to grow best, however, crossing it with Afghan Kush has eliminated that finicky nature of the strain and made it much more tolerant to increment weather conditions or fluctuations. Plant in late May for an October harvest of approximately four hundred grams of glorious, crystal coated cannabis flowers per plant.
L.A. Confidential x Afghan Kush exudes the fragrance of a pine forest after a summer rain shower. Also present are subtle notes of sandalwood and fresh herbs. The aromas wrap around the nasal passages and impart a highly memorable scent that isn’t easily forgotten and is just as easily recognized when smoked.
There really isn’t anything this strain can’t do in regards to medical applications. The indica nature of the strain lends well to treatment of attention deficit disorders, depression, insomnia, chronic pain and inflammation. It has shown incredible promise in aiding Autistic patients as well.
Auto Afghan Fem is the autoflower rendition of the original parental strain. Created by crossing Afghan indica with Skunk #1 and an unknown Russian Ruderalis has gifted us with a heavy producing strain that grows fast and doesn’t require the typical shift in seasonal light. Effects are slightly less potent then Afghan Kush but include a sedative effect that eases stress, pain, muscle tension and is an excellent treatment for insomnia.
With THC levels registering as twenty three percent and a steadfast combination of indica and sativa effects that popularity is well deserved. Separately, L.A. Confidential has a fireplace mantle full of awards including The High Times strain of the year 2006, High Times Cup best indica in 2008, best indica in the 2005 IC420 Breeders Cup, 2nd and 3rd best indica in the High Times Cannabis Cup in 2004 and 2005 and finally 3rd place in the Las Vegas Kush Cup 2006. That’s a pretty impressive collection of awards for just one of the parents of our topic strain. Afghan Kush doesn’t seem to have garnered the awards that the previously mentioned strain has, however, it does have a loyal following within the cannabis community and remains just as popular today as it was when first introduced.
The compact nature of the plant makes it highly suited for growing in tight spaces such as an indoor growing tent. Particularly, the Sea of Green method works quite well. For those unfamiliar with the aforementioned technique, SOG is a method that involves packing as many small potted plants in a tight space. When entering the flowering stage, the plants take on a wavy appearance reminiscent of ocean waves, hence the terminology. This method is highly beneficial for producing large yields and is favored by many experienced cannabis cultivators. Regular trimming is still very much a requirement to allow for airflow and light penetration to the entire crop of flowers. By using this method, growers can expect harvests as large as five hundred grams per plant.
