Despite marijuana being illegal, it is still legal for Tennessee residents to purchase cannabis seeds. The seeds are considered souvenir seeds since cultivation is illegal, but the seeds themselves are legal to be purchased. The main reason for this is how the seeds are seen by the US government. Marijuana seeds are a novelty item instead of a marijuana product, so they do not fall under marijuana laws. This difference allows them to be purchased in any state, though it is still important to ensure any seeds bought online are discreetly packaged before they are shipped.

Marijuana seeds can be regular seeds, feminized seeds, or auto-flowering seeds. There are differences between each of these that are important to understand, especially for those who may want to cultivate the seeds as soon as it is legal to do so. The regular seeds can include male and female seeds but are excellent options for beginners or those buying seeds on a budget. Feminized seeds only create female plants, so they’re great for those who don’t want to worry about wasting space with male plants. The auto-flowering seeds will automatically flower at the correct point in the plant’s lifecycle, which means less worry about watching the plants closely. All are excellent options, depending on the buyer’s preferences.
Medical marijuana use is still severely limited in Tennessee, as well. Though the legalization of medical marijuana has approval from 75% of voters, only one bill has legalized marijuana for medical use, and it is limited. Only seizure patients can use marijuana and they must use cannabis oil. However, they cannot obtain it in Tennessee, which means they must travel to purchase it and buy it from a state that offers medical marijuana for non-residents.
